This might seem like a trivial thing, but it's been on my list for about six years.

The steel door on my garage/shop was plain steel, so it made a great solar collector with the summer afternoon sun on it, and was a really good heat sink in the winter. Spent all day yesterday putting on 1 1/2" rigid foam and double-faced mylar insulation -- what a difference! Now the new AC might have a chance. I'd post pics, but it's ugly as sin.

Pat as long as it works that's all that counts. Looks arn't everything. Well maybe sometimes.

I know exactly where you`re coming from, Pat. I installed a new insulated door last summer and although it did make a big difference, it still acts like a heat sink in the winter. The insulation is inside the panels, and the frame still lets the cold seep in.
It may look nice, but I think fashion is going to give way to function this year.
BTW, check those seals when the weather starts to cool down this fall. I have a sense of accomplishment when I don`t feel that draft blowing in from the west any more.

Just spray it with pink primer. That'll throw a little perspective into it

Yeah Pat, did ya tap tone it ?

Great job bud!

Bob, it sure counts with your wood!

Pink.   Hmmmm.... my daughter would sure like it.

And I have to confess, I did listen to it, but haven't tapped it. It sounds rather damped, doesn't ring like it used to, and sustain is all gone.

Hesh, sometimes I yearn for a shop environment like yours -- AC in summer, heat in the winter, and facilities as close as you can get!

Yup! Sound is very important, when you have to sleep in the garage like a dog!

I'm not sure about the "pink primer perspective" though! What does that mean!
